Why personalized matters

A generic social story is a story about no one. It can describe haircuts in general, but it can't tell your student that the barber is Marcus, the clippers buzz for about five minutes, and the chair leans back.

Carol Gray's methodology is built around specifics. The whole point is anchoring the abstract ("haircuts can be loud") in the concrete ("Marcus has done your haircut three times before"). Generic stories miss the anchor and miss the kid.

Therapists know this. That's why they spend an hour in Google Slides making personal ones for the 3 students who need them most. The other 37 get a generic story or none at all.

Why interactive matters

A PDF tells the student about the haircut once. They put it down and forget.

An interactive story lets them tap through it on the bus Friday. Again Saturday morning before the appointment. Again with the aide on Monday, talking through what went well.

Repetition is how social narratives actually work. Static PDFs lose the repetition by Wednesday. Interactive stories don't.

Comprehension questions inside the story let you check understanding in the moment, not just guess. "What's Marcus going to do first?" → student taps the right answer → confidence going in.

FAQ

Is this Social Stories™?

We use Carol Gray's social-story methodology (descriptive, perspective, directive, and affirmative sentence structure). We're not officially licensed by Carol Gray. The output is generic social narrative, structurally aligned with her method.

How does Emoquest actually write the story?

AI generates the text against a Carol-Gray sentence-structure validator. If the structure doesn't pass, it regenerates. You see only stories that pass the check.

Can I edit the generated story?

Yes. Every story is editable before you share it with a student. We expect therapists to review every output. AI hallucinates. You're the adult in the loop.

Is my student data safe?

We're FERPA-aware and school-safe by default. We don't ask for PHI. Profile data stays inside your account. We don't sell data and don't train on student data without explicit opt-in.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. 3 free credits on signup. No card needed. Make 3 stories on real students before you decide.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Unused credits are refundable within 30 days of purchase. Email Harrison.
